Data Architect / Team Lead

We are looking for a Data Architect / Team Lead who will play a crucial role in our Data & AI Team. This role ideally combines strong technical expertise with a genuine leadership mindset. You will be responsible not only for designing modern Data & AI solutions, but also for leading and developing our Data Engineering team, helping engineers grow their skills and careers, and setting the technical direction for our projects. You will work closely with customers, Solution Sales, Project Managers, and our delivery teams - from the early presales stage through architectureimplementationhandover, and ongoing support. 

Key Responsibilities:

Shape Data architecture 

  • Design modern Data architectures based on Microsoft FabricAzure, and hybrid/on-premises environments.
  • Design Lakehouse and Data Warehouse platforms, data integration solutionssemantic modelssecuritygovernance, and CI/CD processes.
  • Lead technical discoveryarchitectural workshops, and current-state assessments with customers.
  • Prepare HLDstechnical designsroadmapsStatements of Work (SoW), estimates, and technology recommendations.
  • Make architectural decisions and ensure that solutions are scalablesecuremaintainable, and aligned with business needs. 

Lead and develop the Data Engineering team 

  • Lead a team of Data Engineers (5 people)providing technical directionsupport, and day-to-day leadership.
  • Run regular 1:1 meetingsprovide feedback, set expectations, and support employees in achieving their goals.
  • Coach engineers and actively support their professional and technical development.
  • Identify development opportunitiesskill gaps, and future competency needs within the team.
  • Support recruitmentonboarding, and building a strong Data Engineering team.
  • Promote knowledge sharingcollaboration, and a culture of continuous learning.
  • Define and develop engineering standardsbest practices, and ways of working.

Work closely with customers and the business 

  • Act as a trusted technical partner for our customerstranslating business challenges into effective technology solutions.
  • Work closely with Solution Sales, Project Managers, and delivery teams from presales through project delivery.
  • Support presales activitiesincluding technical discoverysolution design, estimationpresentations, and customer workshops.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentationswebinarsworkshops, and training sessions.
  • Clearly communicate assumptionsscope boundariestechnical risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers and help identify opportunities to further develop our Data & AI services. 

Ensure technical quality 

  • Provide technical oversight throughout projectsincluding design reviewscode reviewsquality assurancetroubleshooting, and risk management.
  • Challenge solutions when needed and be willing to make a “stop” decision when a proposed approach does not meet the required quality or business criteria.
  • Support engineers in solving complex technical problems.
  • Ensure knowledge and best practices are shared across the team and projects.
  • Stay up to date with the Microsoft Data & AI ecosystem and emerging technologies. 

Our Requirements:

 
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Data & Analytics architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of Lakehouse and Data Warehouse architecture and design.
  • Advanced SQL skills and practical experience with ETL/ELT.
  • Python or PySpark skills sufficient to understandreview, and troubleshoot engineering solutions.
  • Experience with Power Bi.
  • Experience integrating data from various databasesfiles, and APIs.
  • Good understanding of dimensional modelling, Bronze/Silver/Gold architecture, ingestion patterns.
  • Knowledge of Azure access best practises, Workspace governance, and CI/CD with Azure DevOps.
  • Define performance engineering strategies covering data ingestion, transformation, storage, SQL queries, Spark workloads, semantic models, and reporting.
  • Experience leading technical workshops and working directly with customers.
  • Experience in leading, mentoring, or managing technical peopleyou enjoy developing others, not only solving technical problems yourself.
  • Ability to prepare estimatesdefine assumptions and scope boundaries, and communicate technical risks clearly.
  • Ability to simplify complex problems without losing important dependencies.
  • Excellent communication skills in Polish and English. 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Fabric Data Agent, Azure AI FoundryAzure AI Searchor RAG solutions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft PurviewData Governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with sovereign cloud and data solutions.
  • Previous experience in presales and preparing proposals funded through Microsoft programs.
  • Experience working with enterprise customers or the public sector.
  • Microsoft certifications such as DP-700, DP-600, PL-300, AI-103, AZ-104, AZ-305.
